Have you noticed while doing something you start thinking of something else?
Or you may be spending time with people and you start thinking about the next thing you have to do?
Its the difference between doing and being.
When we are doing something, it’s a tick box exercise.
We are only seeking to get it done.
Versus focusing on being.
Even while we’re doing something we end up being more present.
Being more present means we experience who we are with and what we are doing.
Rather than brushing past everything we do.
You never fully live if you focus on doing more.
There’s no time!
When you focus on being, experiences feel richer and time slows down.
Things that help me:
– Find people you want to spend time with. Focus on being curious and interested in learning from them while with them.
– You don’t need to do everything. Focus on the things you want to do and challenge those you feel you have to do. Say no.
– Focus on your breathing. In through your nose, out through your mouth for counts of 5. If you focus on the pause between your in-breath and out-breath, you will become present.
– Do things that are usefully challenging. Things that stretch you enough that it’s difficult but not too much it’s overwhelming.
