There is no try, there is do or do not!

Reading Supercoaching, by Graham Alexander and Ben Renshaw, I found a great quote by German poet Goethe:

Until one is committed, there is hesitancy, the chance to draw back, always ineffectiveness. Concerning all acts of initiative, and creation, there is one elementary truth, the ignorance of which kills countless ideas and splendid plans: that the moment one definitely commits oneself, then providence moves too.  All sorts of things occur to help one that would never have otherwise occurred.

It ends by saying “Whatever you can do, or dream you can, begin it now. Boldness has genius, power and magic in it”

I love this, I think this summarises people’s inaction in life and the power when we decide to take action and all it can bring to our lives!

It’s easy to write new years resolutions, easy to write goals, but until you’re committed to doing whatever it takes, this means nothing! When you’re fully committed and boldly take action towards your goals consistently and habitually you will achieve them for sure!

This is why I love coaching. It creates commitment to the plan agreed in a session. The coachee will explore their reality and the blocks that stop them from taking action previously. This could be negative self beliefs, negative self talk, lack of confidence or anxiety. Awareness is built around these blockers, and action is taken towards building up the client to overcome these.

So be bold, it has genius, power and magic in it! There is no try, there is do or do not!
