What advice I would give my kids – Part 1

One day I would love to be a father. I would love the opportunity to be in a loving relationship and together decide to have children. It’s such an amazing gift to be able to have children and I know I will be incredibly thankful for it!

I imagine sitting down with my kids after a long day and just talking with them. They could ask me questions about life and what I’ve learned so far to be able to teach them.

I would tell them:

You are special, you are loved. You’ve got greatness within you and your life is going to be as amazing as you want it to be. You have the potential to be whatever you want to be and I will help you in every way I can to help you get there. I love you. You are so important to me.

People will like you and others won’t. Don’t take it personally. You are still amazing.

Happiness and love are the most important things you can have in life. When you pursue what you love to do in life, money will follow. Pursue your passions.

Do one thing every day that scares you. Be uncomfortable in your comfort zone, don’t stay there too long. You cannot grow if you stay where you are and do the same things you’ve always done. Know that you will handle whatever life throws at you and that if you fail you will learn and if you learn it was worthwhile. Life is challenging to help you to grow and overcome. Tough times don’t last, tough people do.

Always do your best. Somedays your best will be amazing, other days your energy won’t be as good and your best wont be as good as the day before but as long as you’ve done your best you’ve done yourself proud and you can have no regrets. Your best is your best at that moment in time, there was nothing more you could have done. Hindsight is a great teacher but you won’t have hindsight at the time!

For now this is part one, I cannot wait to do the next part but let me know if there is anything you would include on your advice you would give your child after your life experience so far!

  1. Great post I really enjoyed reading. I don’t know if I’ll ever have kids, but if I do I hope to give them the right advice I wish I had growing up. I am sure you’ll be a great parent. Thanks for sharing and best of luck with everything 🙂
